​​​​​​Welcome to the Essex Social, Emotional and Mental Health portal for schools and Colleges. Some of this information may also be helpful for Southend and Thurrock Schools.

Our emotional wellbeing and mental health is as important as our physical health. It is important that we look after ourselves and each other. We can do this by offering compassion, kindness, hope, belonging and connection.  

 

The advice and guidance in this portal is to support all education settings and families across Essex, Southend and Thurrock. 

 

Please note: You may hear the terms 'Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health (EWMH)' and 'Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)'. These are terms used by Health, Education and Social Care and are interchangeable. We will however use the term SEMH for ease.

SEMH Strategy Team

This portal is managed by the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Strategic Team. We are all part of Essex County Council’s Education SEND Strategy and Innovation Team.
