Visual impairment (VI)

Specialist teaching, support and advice for early years, school and post-16 settings.

Referral criteria

Children and young people are accepted onto the caseload of a QTVI if they have one of the following:

  • visual impairment diagnosis
  • permanent visual impairment diagnosis
  • bilateral vision impairment

We use the nationally agreed system (NatSIP eligibility criteria) to guide decision-making on the level of QTVI support allocated for individual children and young people.
