Preparing young people for adulthood

Supporting young people to prepare for adulthood

Participating in society

Social and community skills are an important part of adult life and help young people to:

  • make and have friends
  • develop supportive relationships
  • take part in the local community
  • have interesting things to do

It is important to support and provide young people with opportunities to:

  • spend time with their friends outside of school and college
  • develop and keep friendships and relationships
  • ensure that they can safely and confidently access their local community

The Essex Local Offer website provides:

  • links to resources and groups in Essex that help young people build resilience, self-confidence and independence
  • information on socialising, relationships and keeping safe within the community
  • details of a range of leisure activities available within Essex
