This course provides an introduction to key SEND legislation and processes, including how these work in Essex. The day focuses on four elements:


 ​An Introduction to The SEND Code of Practice

  • Ofsted and SEND
  • SEND Finance
  • LA SEND Teams and their roles in settings/schools

 Who is this course for?

Headteachers, SENCOs, or those becoming SENCOs, who are either new to the role or to the role within Essex.

Early Years SEND Funding for Managers / SENCOs of PVI Settings and Childminders

This training will give you a better understanding of the possible streams of additional funding that is available in the Early Years sector to support children with SEND and will enhance the information around funding available on the Early Years​ website. 


 

At the end of the course participants will have:

  • A clear knowledge and understanding of the different streams of funding available.
  • Be aware of the processes of making an application to apply for funding and where to submit it.
  • Be aware of the information required when filling in an application or when information has been requested.
  • A chance to discuss strategies, ways of utilising the additional funding and to record maximum impact.  

 Length: 2 hours

  • Specifically for managers to attend jointly with their SENCOs
  • Childminders

 
Where and when will it be held?

Session are running on Monday 22nd March 2021 at 2-4pm or 5-7pm.

Both sessions will be run virtually.

One Planning for Early Years Settings, Schools and Colleges

One Planning is the approach taken in Essex to enacting the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice. It is a way of completing the graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) in a person-centred way. 

This training introduces staff working in educational settings to One Planning and to a range of resources and materials to support One Planning. 

This virtual training provides an introduction to key concepts and materials relating to One Planning. Attendees will be encouraged to develop the knowledge and skills they learn through attendance at One Planning 'surgeries' run within their clusters by their cluster Inclusion Partner.

Length: 90 minutes 

Who is this course for?

Primarily, SENCOs and those with key roles within educational settings focusing on SEND, but it would be beneficial to all educational provider staff including school and college leaders and setting managers.

Where and when will it be held?

The session will be delivered virtually on the following dates/times:

  • Tuesday 22nd September 2020 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm
  • Monday 19th October 2020 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm
  • Thursday 19th November 2020 - 9:30am - 11:00am
On the basis of feedback the following sessions have been extended by 30 minutes to allow more time for discussion.
  • Wednesday 20th January 2021 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Tuesday 23rd February 2021 - 9:30am to 11:30am
  • Thursday 18th March 2021 - 9:30am to 11:30am
  • Monday 10th May 2021 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Wednesday 2nd June 2021 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Thursday 1st July 2021 - 9:30am to 11:30am
