Guidance about flexi-schooling and responsibilities.

Overview

Parents or carers are responsible for ensuring their child receives a full-time education at statutory school age.

The Education Act 1996 states that "the parent/carer of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him or her to receive efficient full-time education suitable to their age, ability and aptitude and to any special educational needs they may have, either by regular attendance at school or otherwise."

The Education Access Team have provided advice and guidance to schools that may receive requests from parents or carers considering flexi-schooling as an option for their child.
