Personal education plans (PEPs)

National and local guidance on PEPs, plan templates and Welfare Call.

PEP guidance

It’s a statutory requirement that a PEP meeting and document is completed within the first 20 days of children entering care or moving to an education setting.

This is an essential element of planning and assessment for CiC.

Designated teachers should add new targets to the PEP document following a gap analysis. This will enable progress to be measured at the end of the term.

The content of PEP documents should be discussed at PEP meetings where the target should be to carry out the following:

  • challenge and reflect targets for the whole term
  • include short- and long-term targets set by the school which support children to make the next steps in learning
  • propose spending of pupil premium plus (PP+) within the PEP and demonstrate a clear link between interventions and accelerated progress and raised attainment

The early years PEP is now available to all settings online through Welfare Call.
