Attachment guidance
Attachment is one of the most discussed issues which impacts the emotional wellbeing and readiness to learn for CiC.
It’s well known that children can't learn effectively if they’re preoccupied emotionally by anxieties and fears about the following:
- bullying
- falling behind in class
- friendships
- life at home
Children spend around 5 to 6 hours a day in school which gives teachers a powerful opportunity to be significant attachment figures for them.
When a teacher becomes a secure base and safe haven for children, evidence shows this significantly accelerates their learning potential and enhances their feelings of:
- achievement
- self-worth
- social competence
