The pupil premium plus (PP+) grant

The PP+ grant is extra funding provided by central government for publicly funded schools in England.

The grant is used to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities.

PP+ for children in care (CiC) is an element of that grant targeted to raise attainment for those specific children through extra interventions. Interventions should be of proven value which lead to accelerated progress.

Children of statutory school age and those in early years generate the funding.

PP+ funding is not a personal budget for individual children. There has been considerable misunderstanding about this since the introduction of the grant. It is not a source of funding to replace the educational provision to which all children and young people are entitled.
