Essex County Cricket 

Our young people have an opportunity to find out more about Essex County Cricket.

The event is open to 16 to 18 year olds and will take place at the Essex County Cricket Ground on Tuesday 2 April 2024 from 10am to 1pm.

The focus of the event will be on early-entry training including catering, sports coaching and grounds maintenance.

There will be presenters from each department with activist group training with participants able to watch a warm-up pre-season friendly.

Lunch will be included with 20 spaces available.

Essex Fire Service

Our young people have an opportunity to find out more about the Essex Fire Service.

The event is open to 16+ care leavers with an interest in the fire service who are invited to attend a small event for 10 young people on Wednesday 1 May 2024 at Chelmsford Fire Station from 10am to 1pm.

The service will have members from their various teams present who will be talking about the following:

  • fitness and nutrition
  • interview and lifestyle skills
  • apprenticeships
  • operational training
  • what being a firefighter is like

The station manager for Chelmsford will also be there to show everyone around the station.

Arrival time at the station is 9:45am. Make sure, if the young person is in education, permission has been sought. Also, consider how the young person will get there.

Places will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis.

NHS taster day

We have an amazing invitation for our 12 to 16 year olds from children in care and leaving care teams.

They’ve been invited to an NHS taster day ​on Saturday 27 April 2024 from 10am to 1pm at the ICENI Centre, Colchester Hospital, to help them start thinking about their future career aspirations.

The following is a brief overview of the event:

  • fun ‘hands-on’, fully interactive activities with the use of equipment to showcase NHS and healthcare work - not just doctors and nurses
  • open to all career aspirations
  • QR code on the leaflet to apply
  • participants will be dropped off and collected from the ICENI Centre with carers welcome where appropriate
  • lunch is included
