Maths and Maths Difficulties

A training course to help practitioners support children and young people in maths

We want all children and young people in Essex to:

  • have high quality maths teaching
  • have their individual needs identified and met early on, if they have maths difficulties despite appropriate learning opportunities
  • get the help they need to make progress in maths.

This course is designed to enable all Essex schools to:

  • be up-to-date with current research-based practice on effective teaching of maths for all pupils, as well as those with maths difficulties. This includes addressing questions around dyscalculia
  • ensure that their school has effective maths assessment in place
  • ensure that their school has effective evidence-based intervention in place to support children who have maths difficulties (will include signposting to the Essex EPS Maths Intervention training).
