Request an EHC needs assessment

Guidance on education, health and care (EHC) needs assessments.

Assessment criteria

We expect to make decisions on whether assessments are needed within 4 to 6 weeks of officially receiving requests.

If our SEND Operations Team decides an assessment is needed, this must be carried out and completed within 20 weeks.

Gathering information

It is helpful to gather certain information ahead of making an assessment request to help speed up the overall process. This will also make sure parents do not have to wait any longer on decisions than necessary.
