The following support is available for deaf and hearing impaired children and young people (CYP):
- acoustic audits of learning environments - including environmental acoustic impact on listening and curriculum access
- advice and support at the point of transition into education and between education settings
- advice on EHC needs assessments, EHC plans and reviews, and One Planning
- advice on public examinations including access needs
- advice to teachers and education staff on inclusion - including specific differentiation
- opportunities for CYP to meet and socialise
- sign language instruction for CYP, families and staff
- signposting to other organisations, services and activities
- specialist equipment provision, training and support including radio aids
- specialist teaching, assessment, support, monitoring and reporting on the development of listening, language, literacy, learning, interaction and social and emotional skills
- weekly local children with hearing impairment play and stay (CHIPS) groups for pre-school children - staffed by teachers of the deaf and sensory support specialists
