Read the joint area SEND revisit inspection report from 2022

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) revisited Essex in 2022 to inspect its SEND services.

The final report confirmed the county had made significant progress in addressing areas of weakness identified by the previous visit in 2019.

The key findings of the 2022 report included:

  • better partnership working between health and education organisations
  • increased oversight of joint SEND commissioning arrangements
  • improvements in the identification of SEND for children and young people
  • progress in the co-production of education health care (EHC) plans across health, social care and education
  • ongoing external monitoring is no longer required
