To find out how all maintained schools must be constituted, view the Constitution of governing bodies of maintained schools guidance on GOV.UK.
All maintained schools must have an Instrument of Government (IoG) which is a legal document. It records the:
- governing body constitution
- terms of office for each category of governor
- schools name
- various other school matters
