All staff should receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training at induction.
Training should be regularly updated so staff have the relevant skills and knowledge to effectively safeguard children and young people. This includes training staff to understand safeguarding policy and procedures and making sure they have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues.
Training must also enable staff to identify signs of possible abuse and neglect at the earliest opportunity and respond in a timely and appropriate way.
