Definition of bullying
There is no legal definition of bullying. However, it’s usually defined as behaviour that is:
- intended to hurt someone physically or emotionally
- often aimed at certain groups, for example, because of someone’s race, religion, gender or sexual orientation
- repeated
It takes many forms and can include the following:
- cyberbullying for example, via mobile phone or online including email, social media and instant messaging
- making threats
- name calling
- physical assault
- teasing
