Placements and partnerships

Our partnership provisions typically provide a time-limited intervention for children and young people.

This is usually 2 terms but there may be exceptions to this where longer or shorter placements are appropriate.

The proportion of a pupil’s timetable spent at an partnership provision is recommended by the relevant partnership provision panel.

Throughout placements, partnership provisions and mainstream schools work in partnership to support the progress of children and young people and the professional development of teachers and support staff.

The child or young person will return to their local mainstream school through a process of planned reintegration including all professionals, the parents/carers and the child or young person.

SEMH partnership provisions are different to all other partnership provisions we have in Essex, for example for autism or hearing impairment (HI).

They are different because of the following:

  • children and young people do not need an EHCP to access their support
  • children and young people do not have to be on roll at the school hosting the SEMH partnership provision
  • referring schools must be engaged in the graduated approach to regularly assess, plan and review SEMH needs through One Planning
