As part of the Essex Year of Numbers campaign, we have joined forces with HSBC UK to make discussions around money less daunting and more fun for students ages 14-18.
Smart Money Programme
The programme includes a series of six modules which will be delivered by teachers and HSBC's financial education team both in the classroom and online.
Each module has been carefully designed to align with the school curriculum. They will help students learn practical skills they can use in real-life financial situations. The modules cover important financial topics such as:
- money management
- budgeting
- borrowing
- savings
- fraud prevention
For further details of the modules and lessons, download the Module Summary.
Booking on to the programme
If you would like to book your school on to the programme, you will need to:
- complete the booking form
- arrange dates for the 4 sessions to be delivered by HSBC's financial education team (outlined in the Module Summary)
- return the completed form to educationteam@hsbc.com
Once your booking form has been received, you will receive a link to:
- lesson plans
- presentations
- stretch challenges
- worksheets for the programme
- knowledge builder videos on how to deliver the lesson in class
- assessment forms
Assessment
Each module can be marked online with each student receiving their marks immediately. Students will be asked for:
- the name of their school
- their year group
- the date they completed the assessment
- their Unique Pupil Number (UPN)
There are 10 questions about each module.
The students should complete the assessment before and after the set of lessons in each module.
The UPN will enable teachers, the Year of Numbers team and HSBC staff to assess students’ improvement in knowledge for each of the topics taught while remaining GDPR compliant.
Completion of the programme
Each pupil who completes all the modules will receive an HSBC/Year of Numbers Certificate.
Each school that participates will receive an HSBC Smart Money award.
