Previously looked-after children (PLAC)

Overview

The aim for children in care (CiC) is for them to achieve permanence in their lives.

PLAC

Previously Looked-After Children are those who were in Local Authority Care and left care as a result of:

  • A Special Guardianship Order 
  • A Child Arrangements Order 
  • An Adoption Order

These children are known as previously looked after children (PLAC).

PLAC funding

Please use this template to let parents or carers know that their child is eligible for Pupil Premium Plus funding. They must declare their eligibility by the October census. You will need to be satisfied that the child is eligible by viewing the appropriate documents. 

For some children this will be through one of the following processes:

  • adoption
  • special guardianship orders (SGOs)
  • child arrangement orders (CAOs)

These children are known as previously looked after children (PLAC).
