Practical topic guide to climate action

This guide is designed to help school leaders implement change, understand opportunities and regulatory changes that relate to schools. Taking action is often easier than it seems! Student engagement is referenced throughout.

Overview

The DfE has encouraged schools to take action across the following four areas, supported by the following sections of the guide:

  • Decarbonisation – see sections relating to energy, sustainable transport and the circular economy
  • Climate adaptation and resilience – see section relating to school grounds
  • Biodiversity - see section relating to school grounds
  • Climate education and green careers - see sections relating to curriculum and teacher CPD, and student engagement networks and events.
