Newly Qualified Teachers statutory induction AY 2019/20

Essex is an accredited Appropriate Body and is offering the following service to enable schools/Academies to meet their statutory duties for NQT Induction.

 

Our services

  • ​All registrations and returns to the TRA
  • Access to 'NQT Manager', our dynamic support portal
  • Telephone and email helpline, including named contact for confidential issues
  • Monitoring of all end of term reports for NQTs
  • Experienced NQT panel which decides on pass, fail or extensions to the Induction period
  • Free NQT course: 'What you need to know about statutory NQT induction in Essex'
  • Free NQT co-ordinator/mentor course: 'Planning for your NQT's Induction Year'
  • If your NQT is deemed to be vulnerable or struggling, we will provide help in the form of one  monitoring visit to include:
  • Discussion with the NQT induction tutor to ensure they have carried out all of their statutory roles and have evidence to support their judgement that the NQT is unlikely to meet the Induction standards
  • Observation of a lesson(s) delivered by the NQT to quality assure the judgements made by the school
  • Discussion with the NQT to listen to their views on the support they have had regarding their statutory entitlement
  • Feedback to the NQT and co-ordinator with regard to the next steps to be taken to improve the chance of the NQT meeting the induction standards including making recommendations regarding any additional support that is felt to be needed

Plus:

'Opt in' cost for half day (£50) or twilight courses (£30) for Primary and Secondary NQTs on topics such as:

  • Behaviour management
  • Mental health and well being
  • Time management
  • Assessment for learning
  • SEND
  • Effective planning
  • Differentiation and meeting the needs of your pupils
  • Written feedback
  • Metacognition and the science of learning
  • Developing an inclusive classroom
  • KS1 and 2 moderation
  • Primary maths, English, Science, Gymnastics, music, Reading Comprehension, Early reading and Spelling

(NB: If releasing teachers to travel for courses is an issue for you, if you can host, we may be able to travel to you).

  • 'Opt in' NASBTT accredited Level 1 mentoring course and Level 2 Advanced mentoring and coaching course.

    Cost: £150 for 3 half day courses (discount available for schools sending more than one candidate)
  • Another opportunity for NQTs to gain a Postgraduate diploma in Education (£1950) and then the opportunity to progress to full Masters degree the following year.  (Additional £1950) with Derby University. (NQT's/teachers funding themselves have the opportunity to pay in instalments)

Cost

​By registering your NQT with us you are agreeing to pay £330 per NQT for one academic year.  You will be invoiced £110.00 termly for each NQT.

NB: There will be an additional £40 administration fee for all Non-UK trained NQT's and Reduced Induction applications.

Please also note that additional support can be purchased in half day units (£350) and could include for example a second monitoring visit, before the final assessment report is submitted, towards the end of the Induction period.

At Essex Appropriate Body, we are committed to safeguarding and preserving the privacy of our service users. The following is applicable to Newly Qualified Teachers, Teachers registering for the Masters programme:

What personal data do we need from you?

• NQT Manager and related NQT Induction activity

In order to access information and materials related to your involvement in the NQT induction programme we will request your name, date of birth, address, email, telephone number/s, national insurance number, teacher reference number, teacher training provider and QTS award.

• Other Activity

We may also request personal data from you at other times such as if you make an enquiry about registering with Essex AB for NQT Induction.  At this time we may ask you for your name, email address and telephone number.

What will it be used for and what gives us the right to ask for it and use it?

• NQT

It is necessary for a contract   between you and Essex AB and you and your employing school and also for the purpose of safeguarding.

If we cannot use your personal data we will not be able to register you for NQT Induction

• Communications

Communications as requested by customers, including marketing our services, informing customers of changes to services and the general operation of service.

If we cannot use your data we will not be able to provide you with updates, inform you of other relevant services, and this may reduce the service we are able to provide to you.

Our legal basis for using your personal data is under our legitimate interests (if you do not have a contract with us), and under a contract (where you do have a contract with us).

Our legitimate interests are for direct marketing purposes allowing us to provide communications to customers about existing and new products and services for the purposes of continued business growth, and to meet your business needs.

Who else might we share your data with?

For the purpose of the NQT Induction programme we may share your personal data with Essex AB Partnership schools and ETT Associate Tutors.  It is also necessary for us to share your personal data with the DfE for the purpose of registering you on an Induction programme and for the recommendation of completion.  We may also need to share your personal information with other NQT Appropriate Bodies for Induction, if you change AB during your induction period.

We will not disclose your personal information to any other party other than:

• where it is required by our partners in order for you to participate in the the NQT Induction programme or related CPD including the Masters programme

• where you have consented to receive updates about our partners or third parties

• where we are legally required by law to disclose your personal information

Will your data be stored in or accessible from countries with no UK-equivalent Privacy Law protections?

How long will we keep your personal data?

• NQT Programme

We are required to keep your personal data for 7 years to satisfy DfE and Essex CC requirements

• Masters Programme

Your personal data will be kept for the duration of the modules you have signed up to  and will be deleted within 1 year of you completing the programme

• Marketing Communications

If you would like your data removed from our databases for the purposes of sales and marketing, you can inform us in writing or by email or by updating your preferences on NQT Manager. Once your request has been received, you will be unsubscribed within one week of the request. The option to opt-out of these communications only applies to marketing/promotional communications and does not pertain to necessary communication related to the delivery of the NQT Induction programme.
