Attainment - Secondary

Page last updated: 25/09/2020

Raising the attainment and progress of children in care is our priority. Developing strong partnerships with schools and educational settings is essential. Ofsted has a priority to improve attainment of children in care. The mechanism for this is through school inspections.

The Advisers work with secondary schools to review the progress of children in care. The Advisers will:

  • Ensure the plans in place accelerate progress.
  • Work with school leaders to review the impact and effectiveness of the plans.
  • Work with Designated Teachers to improve the provision for children in care.
  • Share good practice and provide support and challenge as appropriate.

Our focus for every child in care is:

  • To have a plan that supports them to make accelerated progress.
  • To achieve meaningful qualifications
  • To be successful in the next phase of their lives.
