On Thursday 25 April 2019, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) published the Teachers' Pay Grant (TPG) Allocations for the financial year 2019 to 2020.
The supporting information document sets out the data that has been used in the grant calculations.
The 2018 to 2019 financial year allocations for new schools, and those that have added an additional year group between October 2017 and 2018 has also been updated and further information can be found on the Gov.uk website.
Further information on the methodology for the TPG is also available on the Gov.uk website.
ESFA have also updated the rates for primary schools for 2019 to 2020 to take account of the double counting of 4 year olds that were identified and communicated last Autumn. All other rates are as published in October 2018.
ESFA has used the October 2018 censusfor 5 to 16 year olds in mainstream schools, the January 2019 census for 2 to 4 year olds in schools, and the pupil numbers as set out in the 2018 to 2019 academic year allocations for post-16 students.
For special schools and alternative provision, ESFA are continuing to use the published section 251 budget data for 2018 to 2019, and the published high needs place numbers for academies for 2018 to 2019.
The first TPG payment for the 2019 to 2020 financial year, covering April to August 2019 were paid on:
- Tuesday 30 April 2019 to Local Authorities for maintained schools and high needs settings
- Week beginning 6 May 2019 to academies
